About Gerald Thiel
Gerald Thiel, coming from Germany, has been engaged in the area of Vocational Training and Education for decades, dealing with crucial subjects as work process descriptions, design of occupational profiles, design of curricula, assessment, quality assurance, teaching, training the trainers, development of qualification frameworks, working with relevant national and European bodies (as the European Commission, the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training – CEDEFOP, the German Ministry of Education and Research, the German Federal Institute of Vocational Training – BIBB). He has also participated in working groups of the industry, mainly in the IT/multimedia Sector, but he is also familiar with developments in the European automotive industry, mainly through his work as a manager of transnational projects: Since 1994 he has designed and coordinated 10 projects funded by programmes of the European Union and one US/German project.
He worked as an international consultant of the project Capacity Building of the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) in India, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In this context, he dealt with internal training of NSDA consultants, and he supported the set-up of the National Skill Research Division (NSRD).
